Truly,
how many Disney movies have said that? True love was a fishbowl we did in class
that really made me think. Professor Brady asked questions such as, “what is
true love?” “What destroys it?” and “what would we do when it’s hurt or
threatened?” I think true love is the ultimate acceptance of one’s self and
understanding that just because we have flaws, it doesn’t make us less amazing.
I made the analogy to my friend who was going through a lot that true love leaves you with a gapping wound and you’re
basically allowing someone to dangle a saltshaker over it. But by saying that
you love them truly and fully, you also trust the person holding that shaker to
not dump the salt into the cut, to ultimately not hurt you. I think selfishness
can destroy true love. I don’t think petty fights and disagreements could make
true love fade. If our true love is threatened I believe we will move mountains
to help free our love from harm. Our true love discussion also opened my eyes
to what other people see as true love, such as a mother’s love for her child.
